Nowadays, the intervention on brownfield sites has become a topical subject in the
field of safeguarding the built heritage, this rehabilitation has been more widely
formalized with the classification of several industrial sites as UNESCO heritage,
which has contributed to the worldwide recognition of Industrial Heritage.
However, in Algeria, this type of heritage is neglected, abandoned, faced with the
absence of an intervention policy and the total disinterest of society.
Our research mainly focuses on this issue. By choosing Constantine as the city of
study, this thesis proposes to highlight the opportunities provided by the brownfields
presented on the urban territory of the city.
Also, this research addresses * Grain silos *, space to be reclaimed as part of a
reconversion process. This building, located in the Bab El Kantara district, is endowed
with strong potential and values (landscape, heritage and historic) motivating an
approach to valorization of an industrial heritage, which has aroused our interest.
The reflection will orient the project in a heritage and contextual direction, giving new
life to the silos of Bab El Kantara with a new vocation. |
