Résumé : La prothèse obturatrice est l’art et la science de la reconstruction artificielle du massif facial dans les cas de pertes de substance acquises ou de malformations congénitales. Elle a pour objectif une réhabilitation fonctionnelle, esthétique, et psychologique, l’intérêt final étant l’amélioration de la qualité de vie du patient Actuellement, la demande pour la réhabilitation prothétique est en constante augmentation avec le développement des nouveaux matériaux et nouvelles techniques. Certaines techniques qui paraissent actuellement encore expérimentale et peu fiables peuvent se révéler efficace avec l'amélioration des matériaux prothétique comme le polyétheréthercétone.
