dc.description.abstract Our main objective in this work is to optimize the removal of a dispersed azo dye (Red Terasil) widely used in the textile industry of Batna, thereby the coagulation was combined with the microfiltration, the purpose of the coagulation is to destabilize and aggregate the suspended matter responsible for the coloration of the solution; the study is completed by a simulation of process using the SuperPro Designer software (SD) (Version 9) while comparing the experimental and calculated results. The experimental part consists firstly to determine on Jar-test optimal coagulation conditions namely the coagulant dose and pH of the solution; thereafter the solution obtained after coagulation is used to feed the microfiltration pilot, in this case several parameters were followed, the concentration of dye and the solution turbidity in the permeate and the concentrate, and the permeate flux as function of time and the transmembrane pressure (TMP); the membrane rejection coefficient was also determined; SuperPro Designer software (SD) is used to simulate the microfiltration process and combination coagulation-microfiltration, the parameters monitored in this section are the concentration of dye in the permeate and the concentrate, and the permeate flux versus filtration time. The obtained results shows that the coagulation-microfiltration process is very effective in eliminating of the dye by a considerable decrease of the dye concentration and an important reduction of the turbidity of the solution in the permeate, and by reducing the flux of permeate, the membrane rejection coefficient exceeded 98%; the results calculated by SD are in good agreement with experimental results. en_US
