Abstract:
Nano-PCM are innovative systems for controlling energy demand and reducing the release of pollutants.
In this study, the COMSOL commercial software is used to simulate the phase change
phenomenon, in the presence of natural convection, of two Nano-MCP (Ag-PCM and TiO2-PCM) in a closed square enclosure. The mathematical model is a system of differential equations: the continuity equation, the Navier-Stockes equations and the energy equation. The phase change process in the PCM belongs to a class of physical problems known as moving boundary problems. Velocity and thermal fields and enthalpy are plotted. The displacement of the interface as a function of time is also discussed. The study compares the influence of two types of nanoparticles on pure PCM, and examines the impact of the percentage of these nanoparticles on the phenomenon, according to selected models from the literature on calculating the physical properties of Nano-PCM. The results show good agreement with the literature.
