Abstract:
Refineries receive crude oil with many impurities such as water, salts dissolved in
water and solid particles.
And in order to avoid its consequences (corrosion of equipment and deposit of
waste in storage bins and production brakes in treatment units). Therefore, the process of
removing salts and impurities from crude oil is a very important process in the oil industry.
To do this, a desalination process must be carried out before distillation.
In this work, we conducted a technical study on the desalination unit (unit 11) of
the SKIKDA refinery to monitor and adjust this process to ensure its effectiveness in
removing salts.
