dc.description.abstract The present work focuses on the study of the influence of electrolyte addition on the liquid-liquid equilibrium involving partially miscible ternary systems. The presence of salt can influence the solubility of one component in another, increasing or decreasing it, giving rise to “Salting-out” and “Salting-in” respectively. The effect of NaCl and CaCl2 at different mass ratios (5%, 10%, 15%) on the liquid-liquid equilibrium of the system (Water/Ethanol / Cyclohexanone) at room temperature and atmospheric pressure was experimentally tested in this work using the cloud point method. The results showed that by increasing the mass ratio of salt in the aqueous solution, the equilibrium between phases is modified in favor of the extracted phase, therefore the “Salting-out” in the case of CaCl2 is greater than that of NaCl. The reliability of experimental equilibrium data, tie lines, has been successfully verified by the application of Othmer-Tobias, Hand and Eisen Joffe correlations en_US
