Abstract: Abstract The development of advanced oxidation procedures for the treatment of water contaminated with organic matters is an attempt to take advantage of the non-selectivity and rapidity of hydroxyl radicals OH° reaction. This work deals with the application of a class of AOP: heterogeneous photocatalysis, for degradation of Basic Blue (BB41). This study is carried out in a photocatalytic reactor with artificial light on a semi-pilot scale in the presence of a photocatalyst: titanium dioxide, Degussa (TiO2:P25). The application of the experimental design method on the reactor allowed us to optimize and model the photocatalytic degradation of Basic Blue and to evaluate the influence of the four parameters which are: the initial concentration of the dye, the concentration of TiO2, the recirculation rate and the reaction time. They also allowed us to define the optimum conditions for achieving a maximum discoloration rate of 0.93 g / L for TiO2, 10 mg / L for BB41, 300 L / h for the recirculation flow rate and a reaction time Equal to 120 minutes. Under these conditions, photocatalysis is capable of efficiently degrading the dye with a degree of discoloration of 81.68%.
