Syndrome de Brodie

Abstract

Résumé : Le syndrome de Brodie est une anomalie rare du sens transversal définie par une occlusion exagérée des secteurs latéraux supérieurs où le contacte s’établit entre les faces palatines des dents maxillaires et les faces vestibulaires des dents mandibulaires. Il a trois formes ; bilatérale unilatérale ou bien localisée à une seule dent. l'objectif principal de notre étude est de présenter cette malocclusion, son impact sur les tissus de la cavité buccale, ses étiologies et de différencier l'occlusion en ciseaux sur le plan local et général par rapport à d'autres syndromes par une étude approfondie et personnalisée de tous les constituants squelettiques crânio-faciaux ainsi que la prise en charge selon un protocole adéquat basé sur la contraction maxillaire et l'élargissement mandibulaire par des moyens orthopédiques, orthodontiques et orthodontico-chirurgicales selon le cas.Abstract: Brodie's syndrome is a rare transverse anomaly defined by an exaggerated occlusion of the upper lateral sectors where the contact is established between the palatal faces of the maxillary teeth and the vestibular faces of the mandibular teeth. It has three forms: bilateral, unilateral, or localized to a single tooth. The main objective of our study is to present this malocclusion, its impact on the tissues of the oral cavity, its etiologies and to differentiate the scissor bite locally and generally from other syndromes by a detailed and personalized study of all the craniofacial skeletal constituents as well as the management according to an adequate protocol based on maxillary contraction and mandibular widening by orthopedic, orthodontic, and orthodontic-surgical means depending on the case.
