Abstract: | Liquid-liquid equilibrium data for ternary systems are crucial for simulating, designing, optimising, and controlling separation operations. The investigation of liquid-liquid equilibrium in ternary systems has garnered significant interest in recent years. This study focuses on the determination of experimental liquid-liquid equilibrium data for the ternarysystems: Water / butanol-1 / acetone, water / butanol-1 / ethyl methyl ketone, water / butanol-1 / cyclohexanone, and water / butanol-1 / diethyl ether at room temperature and atmospheric pressure using the cloud point method. In order to select the most suitable solvent for this equilibrium, the distribution coefficients and separation factors were calculated, with solvent selection determined by the solubility curve. The reliability of the equilibrium data was confirmed through empirical correlations. Analysis of the experimental results obtained showed that cyclohexanone is the best solvent for the separation, extraction, of butanol-1 from aqueous solutions. |
