| Abstract: | As part of our research, which focused on the extraction and formulation of a topical gel based on Lavandula officinalis, we were able to demonstrate the remarkable therapeutic potential of this medicinal plant, known since Antiquity. Our results confirmed that the dry extract of lavender is rich in bioactive compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, capable of effectively promoting the skin wound healing process. through a series of physicochemical, biological, and in vivo evaluations, we developed a formulation containing 10% extract, which showed comparable, or even superior, efficacy to that of a reference product (Mebo). The resulting gel exhibited good skin tolerance, a pleasant texture, and optimal performance in reducing wound size and accelerating wound contraction. In conclusion, our project succeeded in incorporating a highly abundant botanical plant in Algeria into an innovative, natural, and skin-friendly pharmaceutical form. This approach opens promising avenues for the development of dermo-cosmetic and therapeutic products based on plant extracts, particularly within the framework of traditional medicine revisited through rigorous scientific methods. |
