The treatment of wastewater produces many by-products, including sewage sludge. The quantities of sludge produced are continuously increasing with the increase in the number of treatment plants. Proper and effective treatment of this sludge allows its recovery in several sectors. This work aims first to convert this sludge into biochar, which is a safe and effective way to dispose of sewage sludge. To achieve this, we applied three main processes to the sludge, which are grinding, sieving, and calcination at different high temperatures. This thermal treatment enables the improvement of the resulting biochar’s properties in terms of porosity and surface activity, making it suitable for multiple applications. The biochar was tested for its adsorption capacity using rhodamine dye as a model pollutant. The experimental results showed good adsorption efficiency, confirming the potential of biochar as a bio-adsorbent material for the treatment of colored water. Also, the effect of biochar on plant growth and soil quality was studied by applying it to the geranium plant, and the results revealed that the addition of biochar to the soil significantly improves plant growth and enhances the structure of the soil, highlighting its importance in the agricultural fielden_US
