Abstrat: Erosive oral lichen planus (EOLP) is a chronicinflammatory dermato-mucosaldisease of multifactorial origin which affects all the regions of the oral mucous membrane. Severalhypotheseshad been proposed to try to explain EOLP’s etiopathogenesis and its association withothersystemic pathologies. As aresult, thereis a widetherapeutic range for the treatment but itis important to emphasizethat no regimeniscurrentlyvalidateduniversally. For LPE local or generalcorticosteroids as indicatedis the first-line treatment. In case of failure of thistherapy, the treatmentisgenerallydirectedtowardtopicalretinoids, calcineurininhibitors or corticosteroidsintralesional injections. In case of resistance to conventionaltherapies, other alternative therapiesexist however, additional studies, includingrandomizedclinical trials, with strict inclusion and exclusion criteria as well as large samples are needed to evaluate the long-termsafety and efficacy of thesealternative therapies. In addition to local measures, including the introduction of optimal oral hygiene and the elimination of locallyirritatingfactors, as well as the replacement of amalgamfillings in the presence of contact lesions, extensive patient information on the character of the affection, namelychronicity and itsevolution , isclearly in the foreground. In addition, itis important to warn patients of the risk of malignantdegeneration of EOLP. It istherefore essential to integrate patients into a routine stomatological check pattern.en_US
